Holiday Accomodation in the Heart of Dorset's Blackmore Vale
Places to Visit
Ridge Farm is well placed for visiting a wide range of interesting places in Dorset and the adjoining counties of Somerset and Wiltshire.
Here are just a few.

The historic town of Sherborne, just 8 miles from Ridge Farm, boasts not one but two castles, the old, ruined castle and the newer castle (above) built in 1594 by Sir Walter Raleigh. Stourhead's world-famous gardens and Palladian Mansion are worth a visit at any time of the year. Walk round the lake and take in the many beautiful trees and shrubs. Famous for its Roman baths, Pump Room and Royal Crescent (featured in many Films and TV programs), The City of Bath is a magnificent city in which to spend a day sightseeing.

Lulworth Cove offers a beach to sit on, rocks to explore, restaurants to eat at and an easy walk to Durdle Door, with breathtaking scenery along this part of the Jurassic Coast. Montacute House, a few miles west of Yeovil, in Somerset, is a masterpice of renaissance architecture and design. Take a tour of the house and then walk round the stunning gardens. Visit the Swannery on The Fleet at Abbotsbury. In The spring there are always young cygnets to see, along with other wildlife. Not far away, there are also Subtropical Gardens to visit.

Built by Sir Willliam Martyn in about 1485, the year of the battle of Bosworth, Athelhampton House is a fine example of Tudor architecture. It is located near Dorchester, the county town of Dorset. These cliffs, part of the Jurassic Coast, are now famous from the TV series Broadchurch. Enjoy some excellent fish and chips in West Bay while watching the boats in the old harbour. Remember the 'hut' in BroadChurch? This is actually located, somewhat precariously, on the cliff top at Eype a few miles west of West Bay, and is also worth a visit for the scenery alone.
