Holiday Accomodation in the Heart of Dorset's Blackmore Vale

What Our Guests Say

My husband and I got to live out our dream of staying in a beautiful English countryside home. It was so cozy on the inside and the grounds were stunning. We went for walks almost every morning in the garden. Our hosts were so friendly, if we needed something they were a door knock away and always eager to help. We brought our 6 month old with us and we had everything you'd need. A crib, washer/dryer, bath tub and a fully equiped kitchen. If we go back to the UK we would stay there again in a heartbeat!
Andrea (Airbnb, September 2024)

We really enjoyed our stay in this cozy cottage in beautiful rural surroundings. The sympathetic hosts were very friendly and helpful with any kind of questions and they gave us valuable and interesting tips. We would love to come back!
Susanne and Stephan (Vrbo, August 2024)

We received a very friendly welcome, including from Jango [the dog]. The initial food, milk, butter, jam, toast, tea and coffee was provided. The cottage is surrounded by a beautiful well-kept garden. When we had a small problem with our car, Mark immediately offered us help. It was a wonderful time. Ingolf and Doris (Airbnb, August 2024)

Madeline And Mark are very friendly and the cottage had plenty of space. The lounge leading out on to the garden was great. The beds are very comfortable and the kitchen was a great size. Very peaceful, we enjoyed our stay, and would love to visit again.

4 night away break
Delightfully quiet. Everything provided. Hosts were most helpul and attentive but in no way intrusive. This was home from home - but without the noise of traffic.

A comfortable rural retreat
What a gem of a find! A delightful and well-furnished cottage reached via a narrow country lane, close to the Dorset village of King's Stag and its excellent pub-restaurant and coffee house, The Green Man. On arrival at Ridge Farm Annexe we were given the warmest of welcomes by Mark and Madeline Lambert, who showed us round their property, which is attractive, comfortable, well-equipped and set in extensive gardens with views of rolling countryside. There was so much to see and do in the area that we have booked to stay again later in the year. Highly recommended!
Adam & Mary (TripAdvisor, August 2023)

Perfect
We had a lovely relaxing break at Ridge Farm. The annex was very clean and comfortable with lots of local information, good walks on the doorstep and really well located for exploring. We really enjoyed Sherborne, also Shillingstone Railway Museum well worth visiting. Madeline and Mark were so friendly and welcoming and on hand for anything. Very peaceful spot and pleasant evenings spent watching the sun go down from the comfort of the cosy lounge.
Jackie (Airbnb, February 2023)

Well what can I say
an AirBnb experience like no other! We stayed over the NYE weekend, NYE itself had terrible weather that the road into the house was flooded. Mark kindly asked his neighbour to let our car pass through his farm and leave it there overnight whilst he directed us back to the house in the pouring rain. We were meant to be going out in the evening for a meal, but as the weather was so awful we decided to stay put. Mark and Madeline kindly supplied us with some food to eat as hadn't a chance to pick anything up beforehand. They also invited us to join them for their NYE celebrations with their neighbours and we honestly had a great time, glad that the road flooded so we could spend the evening with these lovely people. We were honestly so grateful for their kindness and hospitality and welcoming nature. We stayed with our dog, who was welcomed with open arms. The house itself was very clean with all the amenities that you need for a trip away, a home away from home!
Charlotte (Airbnb, January 2023)

Perfect!
Booked this stay last minute around some walking and visiting and it honestly could not have been better. Our hosts were wonderful, warm and welcoming and on hand if we needed them. The property itself was perfect for us with everything we needed - and more we would never have thought of! We already have plans to return to further explore this beautiful part of the world and will have no hesitation in booking again. Thank you for everything.
Jackie (Vrbo, October 2022)

Delightful Annexe well appointed with extra touches of interesting ornaments and quality tableware. Lovely views of garden and beyond. Surrounded by good walks.
Jill (Airbnb, October 2022)

My husband and I very much enjoyed our stay in Madeline and Mark's Annexe which is situated in a very peaceful and pretty location. The Annexe is very comfortable and fitted out with everything we needed for our stay. We loved the peace and quite sitting on the patio and the pretty garden view from the kitchen window. And we appreciated the complimentary bits kindly provided for us on our arrival. I would highly recommend Madeline and Mark's place for a lovely relaxing break.
Lesley (Airbnb, August 2022)

A quiet retreat in the countryside, lovely hosts very helpful, lovely garden very quiet and lots of wildlife.
Martyn (Airbnb, August 2022)

Lovely accommodation in a peaceful location, perfect for nature lovers as it borders the Alner's Gorse nature reserve. Lots of things to see and do nearby in the lovely Dorset countryside and coastline. The comfortable accommodation was spotlessly clean and had lots of thoughtful touches. Mark and Madeline were friendly and welcoming and even gave us some fresh vegetables from their garden which were delicious. Highly recommended.
Tracy (Airbnb, August 2022)

A lovely place to stay
A lovely place to base ourselves as we explored Dorset, It had all the facilities we needed and everything was to a high standard. The pub about 1/2 mile away was good and easily walkable.

Nice little property for two people. Well equipped. Owners friendly and helpful. Well placed for visiting places in Dorset.
Catherine (Vrbo, June 2022)

Mark and Madeline's place is a great find. Really comfortable space up a quiet country lane. I booked this place because they shared their internet speed in their listing and I had an important work meeting. All worked perfectly.
Caroline (Airbnb, October 2021)

Madeline and Mark were great hosts. The property was spotlessly clean and had everything you could wish for. We would recommend a trip to the Green Man pub -- fantastic food. A lovely restful time.
Grahame and Sue (Airbnb, October 2021)

This is the kind of place where you want to return time and time again. It is impossible to fault it. The place is perfectly equipped, tastefully furnished, in an idyllic location. It also is very well situated, with so much to do and to see being within less than 45 minute drive away. Madeline and Mark are friendly and helpful, and Jango the dog the sweetest creature you could imagine. Not to be missed.
Patrick (Airbnb, August 2021)

Madeline and Mark are very welcoming hosts. The accommodation is comfortable and well equipped, with easy access to their garden and surrounding grounds. Ideal if you want peace and tranquility but also within easy reach of a local pub and the interesting town of Sturminster Newton and the picturesque Sherborne. We would have no hesitation in going back.

Catriona (Airbnb, December 2020)

Friendly farm retreat
Absolutely excellent service by the hosts Mark and Madeline, who were fantastic and made us feel well taken care of. A quaint little annexe in a nice secluded area on the farm, surrounded by sheep and other wildlife you wouldn't easily encounter in the busier parts of the country. It provides a fantastic outdoor walking location with access to many quiet gems to visit. We will definitely be returning!
Satja (Trip Advisor November 2020)

Quite simply, this is the best airbnb I have ever stayed in. Ever. Everything was so well thought through from the dog towels to the electric blanket (my favourite treat of all!). I don't like eating out every night when away so particularly appreciated the generous size of the kitchen and the wide array of pottery, pans and utensils. My stay was nothing short of delightful.
Michelle (Airbnb, October 2020)

Our Dorset adventure
We really enjoyed our holiday staying at Ridge Farm. The location was ideal for us visiting many places. The Annexe was very comfortable and spacious and the gardens were a delight. The annex is set in a beautiful area in the country on a small farm, surrounded by beautiful flowers and trees and wildlife. Madeline and Mark are lovely, very helpful and quick to get back to you with any questions, however during the stay they also gave me lots of privacy. The annex is very comfortable and clean with nice views out of all the windows. I enjoyed my stay.
Julia (Airbnb, March 2020)

Perfect location for footpaths from the door which are great for dog walking but remember to pack wellies if it's been raining! Also great location for exploring Sherborne, Cerne Abbas and other beautiful Dorset countryside. Madeline and Mark are friendly hosts with plenty of local knowledge and the accommodation is well equipped and wonderfully clean.
Jez and Sharon (Airbnb, March 2020)

Staying at Ridge Farm Annexe was a delightful - after staying in apartments or one-room accommodation it felt very luxurious to stretch out over multiple rooms! Wonderfully clean, a comfortable sitting room to relax in, charming and communicative hosts - would definitely recommend, and stay there again if we get the chance.
Claire and Kate (Airbnb, February 2020)

Thank you for being great hosts; would highly recommend and stay again. We were there during Storm Dennis, so lots of floods about and we ended up staying an extra night. Mark and Madeline were excellent at making sure we were OK and had everything we needed. Very dog friendly super area for visiting Dorset. Would stay again. 😀
Melanie and Ryan (Airbnb, February 2020)

Fantastic stay in a beautiful place
We have just spent a wonderful weekend here and wish it had been longer. The Annexe is immaculately presented, fantastically equipped and more spacious than the photographs suggest. It is set in beautiful gardens, well away from the road, in total peace and quiet with lovely views from all of the windows. Madeline and Mark are really lovely people who made us feel very welcome but we enjoyed privacy throughout our stay. There are countryside walks in various directions direct from the farm and our dog spent a very happy weekend off-lead. We highly recommend this place and would happily return.
Karen and Mark (TripAdvisor, November 2019)

We had a terrific stay at the Farmhouse. Lovely gardens full of fresh, springtime colors with sheep grazing in the field beyond. This sparkling clean and spacious annexe reflects the warmth and hospitality of Mark and Madeline and is loaded with the comfort of "home". Thanks to our host and hostess.
Brad and Terry (HomeAway, April 2019)

A lovely little step away from the hustle and bustle with all the home comforts
Watching the blue birds, listening to the sheep, feeling the stress just floating away. Perfect

Lovely, peaceful Ridge Farm Annexe
We have had a really lovely weekend stay at Ridge Farm Annexe. Friendly owners who so kindly provided bread, milk etc on arrival. The annexe is spotlessly clean and the bed sheets smelt heavenly! Beautiful views across the countryside from the annexe and I could've stood all day by the kitchen window watching all the different birds on the feeder. A great base from which to explore Dorset. A wonderful stay, Many, many thanks.
Kevin and Joanne (HomeAway, January 2019)

Delightful quiet and comfy retreat
Warm welcome from Mark and introduction to the lovely annex. Roomy kitchen diner - well equipped and thoughtful essentials provided. Beautiful newly refitted big bathroom with large bath and good shower. Comfy twin beds and a lovely sitting room looking out over the garden. Quiet location, easy to find from the provided directions. Up a farm track but it is in good condition and not a car destroyer. Easy access to towns of Sturminster Newton and Sherborne with its fabulous Abbey Church. Our dog had the run of the garden under control and was quite happy. Overall a perfect stay over New Year away from the bright lights in an immaculately clean, comfortable, cosy place.
John and Lynne (TripAdvisor, New Year 2018-19)

We had a lovely Christmas stay at Madeline's and Mark's-it was extremely comfortable and pretty and they were excellent hosts

The space is homely like our grandmother's and the grounds are beautiful. Mark and Madeleine were generous with their time and knowledge. The Ibberton pub was our favourite local.
Andrew and Emma (Airbnb, June 2018)

Very pretty accommodation
The property is in a quiet location set in a very pretty garden. The owners have thought of everything necessary to make the time spent there perfect. It is tastefully furnished, the beds are comfortable and kitchen very well stocked. I though it was excellent value accommodation. We loved the large ornamental cat which sat in the hearth.
Mary (HomeAway, June 2018)

A quiet and comfortable lodging in a secluded but lovely part of the world. Most amenities are a short and easy drive away but there is a pub which is an easy walk across some fields.
Tony and Susie (Airbnb, May 2018)

Tranquil, dark at night and quiet, this is a cosy place to get away from it all and enjoy the beautiful Dorset countryside. The hosts' suggestions for where to eat were a huge success and although we chose not to eat in, the annexe has everything you would need. It all looks very new and is spotlessly clean: we wanted for nothing and, despite the rain, we had a great time. There was even a public footpath on the doorstep which the dog loved, too.
Dianne and Jules (Airbnb, April 2018)

Restful and convenient
We loved this property. Very comfortable, lovely thoughtful hosts, well-equipped kitchen, quiet, within driving distance of many sites. Highly recommended!
Susan and Misbah (HomeAway, April 2018)

Comfortable, well equipped, friendly couple
Property is well equipped, in the country with pleasant surroundings. Two nice towns within 15 mins for shopping and supplies. Doncaster within a reasonable distance and two pubs serving food within walking distance. All the comforts of home, good internet with nice hosts.
Jonathan (HomeAway, March 2018)

Just as described. Peaceful accommodation in North Dorset
Cosy cottage accommodation with enough equipment for two. The weather was wet and cold while we were there but the owners thoughtfully provide electric blankets and additional heating appliances so no problems indoors! Nice bathroom with large bath and separate shower cubicle. Bread, butter, milk, tea and coffee provided on arrival which is a nice touch. Washing machine and tumble drier provided. Friendly welcome from the owners. Free wifi, good O2 and BT Mobile signals. Note that this cottage is attached to the owners house, as stated in the details. Would definitely use again.
Tim (HomeAway, February 2018)

Lovely spacious annex with separate bedroom, living room, kitchen and bathroom. Very quiet, with lots of birds and lots of local information. Welcoming hosts who then left us to enjoy the flat and the ambience. Excellent
Lyle and Camille (Airbnb, November 2017)

This place has to be seen to be believed! An amazing location, with the perfect hosts! Staying anywhere else would be unthinkable! Do yourselves a favour and stay here!
Phil (Airbnb, October 2017)

The Annexe is clean and comfortable. The space is bright and has lovely views from all windows. To look out the kitchen in the early morning with your coffee or to relax in the evening looking out at the garden from the living room is a delight. The beds have fresh, crisp linens and the beds are comfortable for a good night's rest. It is a bit out of the way but that could be part of the charm for those who like nature or to go on walks.
Richard and Helen (Canada) (Airbnb, October 2017)

We cannot rate this "pocket of paradise" highly enough. The Ridge Farm Annexe is truly a home from home, Madeline & Mark make you feel so welcome and are on hand for any advice on the area and nothing is too much trouble at all. The annexe is just perfect with everything you need for a lovely relaxing stay, very clean and homely, including fast internet connection. The views and walks from the Annexe are amazing and the gardens surrounding the property are very relaxing. At night we recommend going outside the annexe and looking up at the amazing skies, as city dwellers we found this beautiful. We travelled with our little dog and she was also catered for and made to feel very welcome; one of the highlights of our stay was meeting Mark & Madeline's gorgeous dog Jango, what a character, so friendly and entertaining. We really did not want to leave today, and would highly recommend Ridge Farm Annexe for a lovely relaxing, quiet, comfortable break in beautiful surroundings.
Dawn and Karl (TripAdvisor, September 2017)

We had a wonderful time in the annexe. The house is very clean and is very nicely decorated. It is very quiet and relaxing. Madeline and Mark are very helpful and nice people, and their dog Jango is sweet and funny; our dog had lots of fun with him!
Ellen and Robin (Airbnb, September 2017)

Delightful cottage
On arrival we received a warm welcome from the owners, who also very kindly supplied some fresh provisions to get us started - thanks. The cottage was very well presented, clean, warm & comfortable. It was located in a lovely part of North Dorset with great countryside all around. A relaxing time had by all.
Anthony and Debbie (HomeAway, September 2017)

We had a lovely stay. Madeline, Mark and their lovely dog were so welcoming. We would highly recommend the Annexe to anyone. It is clean and tidy and the garden is beautiful as well.
Istvan and Adrienn (Airbnb, September 2017)

Madeline and Mark were very helpful in booking and answering my questions beforehand. The farm is in a beautiful location perfect for a relaxing weekend!
Clare (Airbnb, August 2017)

Comfortable and clean in a quiet location
Karen (Airbnb, August 2017)

Thanks so much for a lovely stay! The annexe is fantastic and perfect launching point for many gorgeous Dorset walks. Will be back!!
Kristina (Airbnb, July 2017)

For us, Ridge Farm Annexe turned out to be the ideal location; quietly secluded yet only a short drive to Sherborne, Cerne Abbas etc & to some fabulous walks on & around the Wessex Ridgeway which was our main reason for visiting Dorset. We found The Annexe light, spacious, clean & well presented. Comfy beds & quality linen. The double aspect bedroom & large patio doors in the lounge, both with beautiful views to the garden, were a real bonus! The Green Man is the closest pub which served us a good evening meal. A super breakfast can be had at Thyme and Time just north of Warrbridge & the Red Barn village store on the Hazelbury Bryan road has a good selection of basic items. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay & hope to return!
Stuart (Airbnb, July 2017)

To explore this part of Dorset Ridge Farm is a wonderful location. The gardens and surroundings are an oasis of calm. Madeline and Mark are very welcoming hosts, providing close contact should you need it but affording all the privacy you need. Jango, the dog, may pay you a visit, he's adorable. The property is tidy, well furnished, nicely thought through and comfortable. Highly recommended.
Thanks to Madeline and Mark for a warm welcome and a comfortable stay. We found the property cosy and immaculately clean. The bathroom is large and very well equipped and the kitchen had everything you could need. A great spot to explore this area of Dorset and I would highly recommend it to friends and family.
Paul and John (Airbnb, July 2017)

Mark and Madeline made our stay very comfortable in their annexe. The annexe is very spacious and clean and has lovely views across their garden and farm. We stayed with our 6 month old daughter and we found there was plenty of room for the three of us. We had dinner out at nearby pubs on recommendation from Mark and Madeline and were never disappointed. This is a great place to relax in peace and quiet, although is close enough to pubs and shops if required.
Conrad and Renee (Airbnb, July 2017)

Lovely property in an idyllic location
We had a thoroughly enjoyable week in this property which is ideally situated for touring the local area with easy access to both the coast and local towns and villages. There is plenty to see and do – of course, the Jurassic Coast, but also beautiful countryside, interesting local towns and historic houses (Sherborne Castle, Athelhampton and Forde Abbey to name a few!) as well as open gardens and other sites. The annexe is lovely; quiet and in a beautiful location, surrounded by Madeline and Mark's truly wonderful garden. It is very comfortable, spotlessly clean and has everything you might need to make you feel at home (even to the radio in the kitchen already tuned to Radio 4!). So many, many thanks to Madeline and Mark for being very gracious hosts! It was a pleasure to meet you both, and we would highly recommend this property (and this area) to others.
Elizabeth (HomeAway, July 2017)

The annexe was spacious, very clean and well equipped. It's in a peaceful location with lovely views outside all of the windows. Madeline and Mark were friendly and helpful hosts. A relaxing weekend in the countryside for sure.
Keith (Airbnb, July 2017)

We loved our stay and the beautifully furnished and clean cottage. Very helpful, yet unobtrusive hosts. Good base for gentle walks in the country side. Lovely part of the world!
Lene (Airbnb, July 2017)

This is a lovely, clean, secluded location, much larger than we were expecting. Madeline and Mark were great at keeping in touch and asking our preferences. They provided a lovely welcome package of essential items to save us having to go straight out to the shops. Thank you.
Edward (Airbnb, July 2017)

The accommodation was lovely - very comfortable - particularly the sitting room. Everything v clean and good facilities for cooking. Wonderful views from every window overlooking the beautiful gardens. We took our two dogs and had the most fab time doing great local walks and trips out to local places. Madeline and Mark were extremely friendly and helped with recommendations on whatever we asked them about from restaurants to where to get petrol. We had the most relaxing and enjoyable time here. A week of rural bliss!
Jason (Airbnb, June 2017)

Liebevoll eingerichtet.

Lovingly furnished. Everything was there and very clean. Comfortable and big enough beds.

We arrived late and found homemade jam, butter, bread and tea. We could have had milk, too. Immediately we felt at home. The landlords who live next door were very attentive hosts. It was important to them that we felt comfortable. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need for good cooking. The bathroom is spacious. From each window you look at the wonderful garden. The farm is very central and absolutely quiet. With short distances you can discover Dorset. Coast and golf courses and cities and gardens and castles and .... just about everything. On foot you are 5 minutes from the pub: The Green Man. Good beer and very good food. Also other pubs are a few miles away. The town of Sherborne, only 8 miles away, offers an impressive Abbey and super shops, as well as typical English town views. All in all 5 stars for the accommodation and 5 stars for the area.

Ridge Farm is a beautiful property with the house and very well appointed, extremely comfortable annexe set in lovely spacious gardens. It is a quiet, peaceful property and is highly recommended. We were warmly welcomed and we loved our four night stay at Ridge Farm.

The view from every window is beautiful.
Susan and Charlotte (Airbnb, May 2017)

Madeline and Mark's annexe is perfect, and we were fortunate enough to visit during spring with the flowers in bloom around their stunning garden. We thoroughly enjoyed the quiet time the space provided including cooking in the well equipped and spacious kitchen. We would definately stay again and recommend their place to others.
Celina and Christoph (Airbnb, April 2017)

The setting is perfect for a quiet break and a chance to explore Dorset.
Sian (Airbnb, April 2017)

A warm welcome from Madeline and Mark awaits. The apartment is clean, well appointed and set in a beautiful rural location for a peaceful get away from it all holiday in the heart of Blackmore Vale.
Jeffrey and Angela (Airbnb, February 2017)

This was exactly the break we needed! Thank you Mark, Madeline and Jango! The property is gorgeous, the annexe is amazing and we slept so well, all the linens were fantastic and we had such a relaxing time. Thank you so much!
Ayla (Airbnb, January 2017)

Madeline and Marks annex is a beautiful little home. You actually forget that it is an annex because it feels so much a little house. You have everything that you need in a beautiful setting. Mark and Madeline are wonderful hosts and are there if you need them but allow you privacy if you don't. The place is immaculate with a wonderful shower and bath and great size kitchen if you wanted to stay in and cook. I would highly recommend this place as a base if you want to visit places like Shaftesbury and Sherborne. There is so much to see and do in the area, especially if you like walking too. The coast is only about 45 minutes away and we drove to the Jurassic Coast for a walk - spectacular views! Total relaxation - we'll be back.

Mark and Madeline were wonderful hosts, the farm was quiet and beautiful, and Jango (their pup) was a sweet bundle of energy! We found delicious cream [supplied at Laura's request instead of milk], bread, and coffee in the kitchen and Mark kindly lent us his road atlas to use while we were there. I would highly recommend a stay at the Ridge Farm and would happily return.

The annexe was very cosy and spacious, we felt we lived in the separate house. It had absolutely everything including the bath and the shower and all the possible kitchenware. The place was very quiet - exactly that you needed for a great relaxing weekend. A lot of activities and things to do or to visit in nearby area. Madeline and Mark were very welcoming and friendly. This is the place we would return to again and again.

Peaceful and central location for touring Dorset
Mark and Madeline were gracious hosts and always on hand to answer questions. The cottage was spotless and well-supplied with all equipment needed, plus starter butter, bread, etc. The location was great for day trips to Sturminster Newton - scenic little town 10 minutes way (don't miss meat and baked goods at Holebrooks), Cerne Abbas, Sherborne (great guided tour), Montacute House (National Trust), Ham Hill and trips to The Jurassic Coast.

A Little Gem
The annexe is well equipped and very homely. Mark and Madeline made us very welcome and were there if we needed them, but gave us our own space and privacy. The garden is beautiful and the location is fantastic.

Parfait!

Perfect!

Very quiet, very well appointed, very warm welcome, I highly recommend this property. The apartment was recently renovated and equipped, furniture is cosy, the facilities quite practical. But what we liked most is the perfect quiet place in the countryside yet convenient and well situated to visit this part of England. A big thank you to our hosts!

Me and my partner got the brilliant and relaxing bank holiday weekend we were looking for whilst staying with Mark & Madeline. They were lovely hosts who warmly greeted us upon arrival and provided us with a really helpful list of information about the flat and went to the effort of filling us in on the nearest stops for groceries, restaurants and pubs which we used and loved! The annexe had amazing facilities and gave us a really comfortable place to feel at home for the 2 days we spent there. More than enough kitchenware for cooking any sort of meal and we were provided with fresh milk, bread and plenty of extras for cooking. Definitely an ideal choice for anyone needing a peaceful break in the countryside.

Firstly I want to say a massive thank you to Mark and Madeline. They were so lovely and welcoming. Offered advice on where to go and checked we were ok and had everything we needed. They were the perfect hosts! The place itself was lovely!!! Better than the description as well. Extremely clean, has everything you could need and the views around are stunning. I had such a lovely stay here and only wish it had of been longer. Thank you so much. I would come back again this weekend if I could :-) xxx

Mark & Madeline could not have been more welcoming on our arrival, with the added touch of milk & bread provided, we felt instantly at home. The annexe was superbly laid out & spotlessly clean with the added bonus of having a good size bath & shower. Peaceful nights sleeps in comfortable beds (electric blankets a real boon) with no traffic noise at all. Wonderful grounds with great views & walks for our spaniel. We will definitely recommend this stay to our friends & family, thank you for such a memorable time.

An extremely warm welcome was given us by Madeline and Mark. The annexe was spick and span, extremely well equipped and very comfortable. The bathroom and kitchen were modernised to a high standard. Our hosts were especially helpful when I managed to break a tooth!! We were very kindly invited to join Mark and Madeline's friends at a little soirée they held one evening which we thoroughly enjoyed. The grounds and garden were lovely and we were given some delicious fresh produce from the veg beds. Lots of leaflets, books and maps helped acquaint us better with the surrounding countryside.

Excellent spacious accommodation, well maintained and a brilliant location. The owners were very welcoming and helpful and made our stay very pleasant. We would highly recommend this property.

First Class
We wanted a few days to chill out from the commuting grind, so looking for somewhere quiet, comfortable and dog friendly. We found it! This place is superb - spacious, very well equipped, well away from any traffic, and Mark and Madeline made us, and Queenie, extremely welcome.
Cerne Abbas is nearby and we enjoyed a long walk there; the coast, Portland and Chesil beach are also in striking range and Mark made some very helpful suggestions. The local pub is less than ten minutes walk and I am dining out on the story of the hilarious Wednesday bingo night.
I can't recommend Ridge Farm Annexe highly enough, we are looking forward to our next visit there.

Madeline and Mark were wonderful and generous hosts - appearing with fresh tomatoes and basil, suggesting local places to visit, and even providing a long lead for our dog so she didn't wander too far in the neighbouring fields. The annexe is beautifully fitted out - lovely shower and bath, comfy beds (with electric blankets), and a huge supply of kitchen utensils and crockery (Villeroy & Boch, no less). There were books aplenty to read, maps, cards, board games, as well as the TV/DVD. Nearby are glorious walks through long grass alive with butterflies, and a nature reserve just round the corner. From here you can get to the stunning beaches of Jurassic Coast in about 45 mins, or to the impressive Sherborne Abbey in 20 mins or so. For local food you only need to go to Stalbridge for a supermarket brimming with local produce and specialist ciders. We couldn't have had a more relaxing and enjoyable break with Madeline and Mark, and we'll definitely be going back!

An immaculate property in a peaceful setting
We had a lovely two night break. The accommodation was spotless, the best that we have stayed in. The gardens are well maintained, perfect for a relaxing afternoon. The owners thoughtfully provide bread and milk in case you arrived late. We would definitely recommend this property. In the local area Sherborne Castle grounds are worth a visit.

Great place to stay, perfect
We booked 4 nights thinking, for the price it wouldn't be too flash. What a surprise on arrival. Spacious lounge, bedroom, & bathroom with a shower as well as a bath plus a well equipped kitchen saving on eating out. Everything was pristine. All around are beautiful well equipped gardens & lawns that we had use of. Our hosts Mark & Madeline made us most welcome & ended up more like friends by the time we departed. We consider this the best holiday accommodation we have ever had. Enjoy.

Gretel's Secret
We wanted to go somewhere we had never been to, and Dorset fell into that category. We also tend to book late, so as to have a short lead time to departure. Usually we find little gems of properties, and this one kept our run going! Madeline and Mark are new to the letting game, and it showed as the annexe was very well equipped throughout. They are also a lovely and interesting couple, which in our view adds to the holiday experience. Beds are comfy, plenty of crockery (including some nice china), and all the major items are brand new. The extensive gardens are a relaxing place to chill out in the Dorset sunshine, and the location of the property is great for getting round the county.
Dave (Trip Advisor, June 2015)

Note: Sadly, Gretel, our grey lurcher, is no longer with us. But we do now have another lurcher, Jango, who is always happy to see guests.

A very warm welcome from Madeline & Mark on our arrival. The location is a peaceful countryside haven, lots of wildlife and a beautiful garden. The property is clean, comfortable and well equipped.

We spent a delightful few days at Ridge Farm. Madeline and Mark are friendly and informative hosts, and the annexe very pleasant and well equipped. Lovely garden. A great night's sleep in comfy beds in the utter quiet of the countryside, with not a whisper of traffic noise. Balm to a city soul!

What an idyllic setting! Mark and Madeleine and fabulous hosts. We were welcomed to everything we needed including bread, tea and the best marmalade we have tasted. Mark was full of knowledge about the local area and recommended some great places to have dinner. Our dog loved the stunning garden, and did not want to leave. Madeleine sent us off with three plants for our garden and some beautiful memories. We recommend this to anyone that needs that break from reality.

Madeline and Mark were wonderful welcoming hosts. The accommodation was charming and of an excellent standard and spotlessly clean. Ridge Farm Annexe had everything you could possibly need for a comfortable and relaxing stay. There were much appreciated provisions waiting for us when we arrived. The area was lovely and quiet, and the surrounding area has much to see and do. The gardens were lovely also. We would recommend Ridge Farm Annexe to anyone travelling to or through the area. We would not hesitate to stay with Madeline and Mark again when we are in the region.
Jane and Geoff (Airbnb, May 2015)

The stay was wonderful. Mark and Madeline are really nice couple and did everything to make our stay as good as possible. The place is newly rebuilt, spacious and clean with a lovely flower garden. We found a home-made marmalade in the cupboard which disappeared soon as it was delicious. I recommend this place to anyone who wants to spend some time in countryside, with clean air and lovely people around.
